- Buy local produce, maybe from a local farmers’ market or WI.
- Buy fruit and vegetables that are in season in this country. Don’t be fooled by supermarkets calling vegetables “seasonal” when they have been flown in form other countries.
- Look at where your food has come from and try to reduce food air miles.
- Buy items that carry the Fair Trade logo.
- Eat at least one vegetarian or vegan meal each week. Gradually increase this so you reduce your meat consumption.
- Eat pork or chicken instead of beef.
- If you eat beef try to buy meat from animals that have been grass-fed rather than intensively reared.
- Plan meals so you don’t buy more than you need. Use up leftovers from the back of the fridge before they go out of date.
