Stories to Inspire Hope

We aim to publish stories here which show how individuals or groups have turned their learning into ways to speak out and have stepped up by taking action. Each story aims to show that change is possible, and that solutions exist, despite how difficult the task appears to be. By sharing the success that emerges from these stories, we want to INSPIRE HOPE and build and spread that mountain of positive encouragement.

We will continue to shine light into the darkest corners. HOPE is both inspiring and infectious, and we want to hear your stories and spread your successes, in a way that will inspire the hope in others, and also encourage them to join or start an action group.

Please do get in touch with your success stories however big or small, by getting in touch here.

Curiosity, Creativity and Courage – Building Blocks of Hope

The first of our stories to inspire hope explores the challenge of reducing our addiction to fossil fuels. The story shows how barriers to change can be systematically knocked down by refusing to listening to the “buts”, instead seeing each new challenge as an opportunity simply waiting for a new solution. It shows how we can draw on familiar solutions from the past, mixed with some new ideas, to adapt them to the 21st century world with new technologies and fresh thinking. The problem of weaning ourselves off fossil fuels then ceases to be one without answers, instead becoming one of speeding up the process of large scale adoption of known solutions. Not only do we then have the HOPE, but we also know how to ACT and what to SPEAK OUT about.

Know your Impact

This story from David and Elizabeth Welbourn, tells the background to the Curiosity, Creativity and Courage story. It shares how they have made a number of environmentally conscious changes over the last fifteen years. Looking back over the journey, there is a clear logic and progression whch could not have been seen at the outset. What started as a desire to exploit new, better technologies whilst still in their infancy, has now taken on a whole new meaning, in a world where we desperatly need new technology solutions alongside policy and behavioural change.
