Joan’s Jottings for 11th July

Dear Siblings in Christ,

As you know, although churches can now open for worship, in our Circuit, we are taking things slowly. Each individual church is deciding when they will safely re-open. Museum Street will be re-opening for worship on Sunday 2nd August at 10.45 a.m.  We will have a completed risk-assessment and there will be many safety procedures in place. As per government guidelines, there will be no singing and chairs will be spaced out. The toilets will be open. We are only allowed to arrive, sit down, worship and leave; there will be no fellowship time after the service. We will give you more details in the upcoming Joan’s Jottings. We know that this will feel very strange and many of you will not wish to come or will not feel safe to come back at this point, and that is okay – our online worship will also continue, and no one should feel pressured to return. Folk from other churches in the circuit are welcome to worship at Museum Street too. However, note that under current government guidelines, no one at this stage can offer lifts; taxis are the only option.

The funeral service for Harry C. is next Tuesday at Noon. As with all funerals at the moment, attendance in person is limited and by invitation only. You can however watch it on livestream – contact Rev. Andrew Sankey for details. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The schedule for the book study on Why I’m No Longer Talking to White People About Race by Reni Eddo-Lodge has been set. We will meet by Zoom on Thursdays at 10.30 a.m. to Noon from 16th July for 7 weeks studying one chapter per week. Contact me for Zoom access. Book and other details here.

Your chuckle:

I am keeping you in my prayers. May God’s peace be with you all,
In Christ
