Change of plan!

Last Sunday my husband and I were having a short break away. We were both looking forward to a three-course meal and a bit of relaxation. The weather was beautiful, sunny and warm and the countryside looked stunning, especially the numerous fields of rape with their golden yellow flowers. Mind you we saw more of the little country roads than anticipated as my google maps took us on these roads to avoid road works. We had a superb meal in the evening and had a restful time.

Going forward to Monday morning the weather changed dramatically which changed our plans as to what we were going to do on our journey home. Rain, wind and hail made the visibility dreadful and we decided to go home. I also had received a text message from my neighbour asking whether we had lost our power as hers was off. This made me more eager to get home.

I said a prayer as we were driving towards Ipswich from the western side, hoping that the bridge wouldn’t be closed until we were over it. It was open with a 40mph restriction. Thanks were duly said.

We had just driven another couple of miles when I got a warning sign in my car telling me that I had a low pressure in my rear tyre. Panic, raised heart rate, what to do! The rain was lashing down and I really didn’t fancy causing a holdup on the A14. I decided to keep driving and go to the garage where I had bought the car. The screen kept telling me that the pressure was going down even further. More prayers to get me to the garage safely. We arrived safely and the staff checked the tyre and blew it up and we got home safely.

Our electricity was ok and obviously had not been off but some of our bits and pieces in the garden were all over the place. On Tuesday morning my tyre was completely flat. More changed plans as I had to get that sorted out.

Have you had plans changed? Firstly, we drove a different route to our destination. Then our plans were changed again on the journey home. We can make as many plans as we want but our plans may not be the plans that God has for us.

Do we go with the flow or do we try to keep doing what we want to do? Things may be stressful but we have the reassurance of having a friend who knows better than we do.

Thank You Lord for being our reassuring friend.
