I have been responsible for setting a timetable for a series of meetings happening this week. It has been a steep learning curve, with the need to alter days that people can attend, and so altering the timings of the remaining attendees. It has also become apparent that the amount of time allocated to each attendee was possibly not enough.
Anyone who has ever had the responsibility of organising rotas of any kind will know what a “poisoned chalice” this can be.
I have to say, that everyone involved in the meetings has been very accommodating and understanding, and I will be able to learn from this experience for future similar events.
Just imagine if we had to fit in to God’s timetable. How much time would we need? Where could we meet him? What happens if we over-run? What happens if we fail to show up?
We have a gracious and loving God who has space in his diary for each one of us, at any time of the day or night. He doesn’t have a time limit on how long we can spend with him, or what we can bring to him. He is never too busy.
God, in fact, wants us to call on him, not just in times of difficulty, but also in times of joy. He wants us to draw near to him, not for our own desires but out of a desire to know him more. He wants us to know him more so that we can, in turn, tell others of what he has done for us.
So, no need for a timetable, he is always there. No need for a time limit, he is limitless. Meet with God today, spend time simply being with him.
