Skip through spring

I was walking back from shopping the other day. As I’ve said before, I don’t drive and one advantage is the people I make contact with as I’m walking.

On this particular occasion, I had three encounters. The first was a young beautiful Asian lady who asked for directions. The second was a middle aged dog walker who apologised for his rather unruly dog who was attracted by the smells emanating from my trolley – possibly the bacon? – causing him to sniff and circle and bark.

I travelled on a little further and was overtaken (yes, to my shame!) by an elderly gentleman who skipped past waxing lyrical about the warmth of the sun and the beauty of the daffodils! Three very different encounters.

How do we come to God? Asking for assistance with our petitions? Asking for forgiveness with our confessions? Bombarding Him with praise for His Creation?  Of course, there’s a place for all three in our prayers and all acknowledge what we know about His Character and His Love for us. This week though I’m going to try to skip through Spring with God more – praising Him for the warmth and colour of the season!
