Creation and Stewardship

Scripture Reading: Psalm 104:24-25 (NIV)

“How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom, you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with life.”

Theme: Creation and Stewardship

We are all invited to participate in God’s missional work, to be faithful Stewards of God’s creation.

Human beings are more destructive of God’s creation than any other animal on earth, hence God calling us to repent of our unfaithful Stewardship.

Hymn: STF100 All things bright and beautiful
Watch on YouTube

All things bright and beautiful,
all creatures great and small,
all things wise and wonderful,
the Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,
each little bird that sings,
He made their glowing colours,
He made their tiny wings.

The purple-headed mountain,
the river running by,
the sunset and the morning
that brightens up the sky.

The cold wind in the winter,
the pleasant summer sun,
the ripe fruits in the garden:
He made them every one.

He gave us eyes to see them,
and lips that we might tell
how great is God Almighty,
who has made all things well.

Reflection:  Creation and Stewardship

As we enter this day, let us take a moment to marvel at the beauty of creation around us. Suffolk is a beautiful place to live. I enjoy my morning walks every day admiring the wonders of God’s creation.  From the smallest flower to the vastness of the sea, God’s handiwork is evident everywhere. Each creature, each element of nature, tells a story of God’s wisdom and creativity. In the hustle and bustle of our lives, it can be easy to overlook the wonders of the world.

Consider how you can engage with creation today. Perhaps take a walk outside, listen to the sounds of nature, or simply stop and observe a tree or flower. Acknowledge that all of this beauty reflects the Creator’s heart. Perhaps you may plan to go for boat cruise enjoying God’s creation.  As we enjoy God’s creation, let us be faithful stewards to the creation of God. AMEN

Prayer:

Dear God, thank You for the gift of creation and for the beauty that surrounds us. Help us to see Your hand in everything and to appreciate the life You have given us. May we be reminded of Your greatness as we encounter the world today. Amen.

Contemplation:

Spend a few moments in silence, allowing the beauty of God’s creation to inspire gratitude in your heart.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be your name; your kingdom come; your will be done; on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Hymn STF 540 – The day the universe was started
Watch on YouTube

The day the universe was started
creations dawn still burning bright
the smallest parts of you existed
Within the energy and light

And over time, with space expanding
God let your atoms form above
in ways beyond our understanding
While God imagined you in love

Our Father breathed upon earths features
And life sprang up in every part
A home for you and all God’s creatures
A place to grow, and know his heart

Through many years of preparation
God dreamed your days and saw your face
And paved the way for your salvation
With suffering love and endless grace

And now you enter this great story:
A work of art by God’s own hand
moulded from all creations glory
A life completely loved and planned

The ways of God remain a mystery
But, child, our Lord has given you
This special place in time and history
That you may come to love him too.
