Remember

There are, or at least have been, family games that included seeing several items on a tray and then having to recall what they were or which one had been removed. Similar games have been seen on TV, or as with the show, trying to remember items on a conveyor belt.

I was reminded recently of a time I was attending another church and after the selected Bible passage had been read the chairman said, “I often wondered where the words of that chorus came from!”

An earlier daily Bible reading involved the whole of 1 Chronicles 16 – all 43 verses. This would not be easy to read in public, with some challenging names to pronounce, but I would encourage you to make time to read it. As I read it, early one morning, I was amazed at the many phrases that have been incorporated (some with minor changes) into Christian songs that I have sung at some time. I suppose I assumed that many of them would have been from the Psalms.

Many of the phrases used by King David, though based on God’s relationship with the nation of Israel, are as relevant for us today, and one short phrase that I found stimulating is in verse 12 – Remember the wonders He has done.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, it is easy today to be overwhelmed with so many negative attitudes and problems throughout the world.  I pray that we may constantly be reminded of the wonders you have done and are doing today. AMEN
