Notice me!

How far would you go to be noticed?

I heard recently of a teenage girl who wanted to be noticed and was told by a friend that if she took drugs – then she would be noticed. So she did.

Wanting to be noticed is a human trait. No-one enjoys being ignored – even if you’re the sort of person who doesn’t seek the spotlight or want to draw attention to yourself, it’s still good to be appreciated for your work or thanked for a gift. One article I read said a good way to fulfil this desire is to focus on doing things for others. A feature I enjoy on the ‘One Show’ is the ‘Big Thank You’ when they choose someone who has unpretentiously done loads for the community or a charity and help those who have benefitted to show their gratitude and appreciation.

That’s all commendable but I need you to know – and really ‘deep down’ know – that God notices you. Much more than that He knows, He cares and He loves You. And you don’t have to do anything. Doesn’t matter who you are, what you’ve done or not done, what your postcode or social status is, how many friends you have on Facebook, what your bank balance is, none of that matters to God. I’m sure giving to charity and helping others makes God smile but it doesn’t affect how much He notices you. Even if you don’t notice Him or even believe He exists, His love is always there and is non-negotiable. He notices even the number of hairs on your head. (Matthew 10:30)
