The new Envrionment Act in the UK came into Law on 10th November 2021. The Government claims that this is world-leading in the protection it gives to the environment. The legislation will improve air and water quality, tackle waste, increase recycling, halt species decline and improve the natural environment.

It provides firm levers to hold polluting organisations to account, whilst also providing a framework within which climate justice is framed. This should enable those concerned about climate change to hold policy makers to account for delivering on many of the commitments emerging from COP26.
