Keep going!

Last Saturday, we went to the cup match at Portman Road – Ipswich v Blackpool. It was the first time I had been in the stadium for 64 years. And it did trigger some memories. I remember being carried on my Dad’s shoulders – during the game and on the way home.

Many things have changed – my Dad is no longer with us, I never liked the sport growing up and as an adult but have warmed to it in recent years. I’ve researched the match I attended in 1962 – I can be sure when it was as it was the weekend around the time my brother was born – hence being in Dad’s care. Alf Ramsey was the manager, this was just before he was called up to manage England, Crawford was town’s top scorer and Andy Nelson was the captain. The final score was 1:1 with the opposition equalising in the 89th minute.  This was the amazing fact to me – the opposition was Blackpool!  64 years later and the opposition was the same though the circumstances have changed so much.

Through all the changing scenes of life – the opposition doesn’t change.

However, nor does God. When we see nation rise up against nation, global catastrophes, personal tragedies, emotional breakdowns, you name it – God’s been there and sorted it. Faithful he has been and faithful he will be.

Just don’t stop praying –pray till your knees wear out the floor – God hears every word and he cares.
