Joan’s Jottings for 3rd May

Dear Siblings in Christ,

Today’s service is available online as we continue our series Tales of Peter’s Discipleship Journey and hear about Peter’s Bold & Impulsive response when Jesus invites Peter to walk on the water. We will break bread together in this service, so to partake have a piece of bread and a glass of water to hand. Scripture is Matthew 14:22-33 and 17:1-4. In both of our scriptures today, Peter is impulsive. He acts quickly, without much thought. He says what he is thinking at the time. Peter got out of the boat when Jesus said ‘Come’ and he got wet and had to be rescued. He had a tale to tell, an experience to ponder, and came to a greater understanding of Jesus.

At this link, you will also find a written service by Rev. Derek Grimshaw and the 10.30 a.m. livestream for the service from Capel St Mary which is led today by Carolyn Love with Godfrey Miller preaching as he continues the theme Being Church, Doing life, Marks of Maturity with this Sunday’s topic being Practicing Perseverance. In addition, there are two video reflections from earlier in the week by Rev. Martin Dawes and Rev. Diane Smith.

Did you know that our District Chair, Rev. Julian Pursehouse, is writing an inspirational weekly letter which is being posted to our circuit website? You can find them here. The website has lots of things posted to it, so check it regularly – you can scroll down the home page to find most articles.

I am keeping you in my prayers. May God’s peace be with you all,
In Christ
