Elmsett Messy Olympics

The Olympics in Tokyo may have ended, but Elmsett Messy Church held thier own “Messy Olympics”. We had the long jump, hurdles, javelin / shot put / discus, showjumping, high jump, triathalon and boat race. (All “loosely” based on Olympic sports!)

We were blessed with 24 children and their parents / grandparents. As the event was held on our Village football pitch, we even had spectators – unlike Tokyo!

We even had our own Paralympian Evie Edwards who is about to fly out to Tokyo as part of the Team GB Boccia squad. She gave us a demonstration and all the children were able to have a go.

Several passers by commented on how nice it was to see the children’s smiling faces and hear the laughter and fun that everyone had.

At the end, we had a closing ceremony where everyone got a gold medal and certificate, of course, and a posy and a chance to wear a real Team GB T shirt – one size “fits” all!
