Christian’s Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre Coach

Job/volunteering opportunity: Christian’s Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre Coach

The CAP Debt Centre in Ipswich re-opened in May 2021. Since then, the service has helped many people to become debt free and for some it has led to a life changing decision to follow Jesus.

The Debt Centre is supported by a core group of five churches from across Ipswich through a church partnership agreement. Following a successful initial three year period, the partners have agreed they will commit to continuing the service until at least March 2027. During this period the current Debt Centre Manager will be retiring and so we are seeking to recruit a Debt Centre Coach to work alongside him with a view to becoming the Debt Centre Manager when he retires.

We are seeking expressions of interest from anyone who is a committed member of a church in Ipswich who might be interested in applying for this role. The role is likely to be a paid role (but offers to volunteer would be gratefully considered!) and would require about 16 hours input a week.

The role requires an enthusiastic Christian to manage this service. The manager needs to be a good organiser and passionate about helping people in need. The role involves meeting debt clients in their homes, gathering information about their financial situation and working with CAP’s head office who provide the professional financial advice to support the client out of debt. The manager will be joined by a network of befrienders who work alongside the manager with debt clients.

Full training and support provided.
Candidates need to be supported by their church. The funding for the post would come from the Ipswich CAP Debt Centre church partnership, but the candidates would need to be employed and supported by the church at which they are a member. We would be happy to speak to prospective applicant’s church leaders to outline what this involves.

This opportunity will remain open until a suitable candidate is identified, but needs to be filled by 13th September 2024 at the latest. If you would like to discuss the role further or would like to express your interest please contact jreynolds@caplifeskills.org or call 07482 519237.
