Build it right

Joe had worked for the same building contractor for 20 years.  One day he called Joe into the office and said, “I’m putting you in charge of the next house we build.  I want you to order all the materials and oversee the job from the ground up.  I’ll be out of the country for three months.”

As Joe studied the blueprints and checked the specifications he thought, “Why not cut a few corners, use less expensive materials, and put the extra money in my pocket?”  So he ordered second grade timber, inexpensive concrete, and cheap wiring.  When the house was finished the contractor came to see it.

After inspecting it he turned to Joe, handed him the key and said, “I didn’t tell you this before, but this house is a gift from me to you in appreciation for all the years you’ve worked for me.”

In Paul’s letter to the Corinthians he says “Each one must be careful how he builds.  For God has already placed Christ Jesus as the one and only foundation, and no other foundation can be laid.”

Prayer. Thank you that it’s never too late to come back to the rock on which we can build our lives because You never give up on us.  Amen
