Blessing

God had many things to say to Moses as he led the people of Israel out of Egypt on their way to the Promised Land. But the messages were not just personal messages for Moses alone, he was told to pass them on to the people.

One of these many messages is still used today, often as a benediction at the end of a service.

Look at 6 verses in Numbers chapter 6 verses 22 to 27 for the whole context.

The core of the message is

                                         The Lord bless you and keep you;

                                         The Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you.

                                         The Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

It doesn’t need a priest, minister  or pastor to say this blessing.

Anyone can say it for the benefit of anyone else – family member, friend, acquaintance or neighbour.

It doesn’t take a minute.

To invoke God’s blessing with this prayer is one way of showing love to your neighbour.
