A lazy wind

Today’s thought for the day is brought to us by Anna Porter

The other day I was talking with a friend and discussing the cold weather and both of us were complaining about the wind. She told me about something she had been told when she had moved to Felixstowe many years ago. A lady had said to her, “We have a very lazy wind in Felixstowe. It doesn’t go round you, just straight through you.”

I had never heard this expression and was really amused by it. Mind you it got me thinking about how true it feels when the wind certainly appears to go right through to your bones. I’m very lucky to have a warm house to live in and clothes to wear but there are many people who are less so. It must be dreadful for homeless people at the moment with temperatures to fall to -4 degrees.

Thank you, Lord, for all the charities who help provide shelter and food for the homeless. Help us to remember to be as generous as we can be to help others.
