The Message of 1 & 2 Thessalonians : preparing for the coming King by John Stott

First published in 1991 and reprinted 12 times says a great deal about the success of the author’s careful and thorough exposition of these two brief letters to a young church in 1st century Macedonia.
Not only does John Stott display his customary clarity in expounding what Paul writes in his two letters, citing the original Greek, helpfully transliterated, and quoting relevant sources, both historic and contemporary, but where he disagrees with interpretations he shows what the interpretations are and explains in detail why he disagrees with them.
There are three key messages in the two letters – what ministry should look like and be; a vision in all aspects for the local church and an affirmation of the historic foundation of the Christian faith – ‘Christ has died, Christ is risen and Christ will come again’.
This commentary is a real boon for preachers and for personal study by the man or woman in the pew.
