Over the last 12 months Elmsett Methodist Church has been sponsoring a young lady named Yankho, who lives in Malawi. Her family is known to Ellen Barber and family. Yankho’s wish is to become a qualified midwife, and so contribute not only financially to her family, but to the wider society in Malawi. Unfortunately the cost of her education was beyond the family’s means, so Elmsett agreed to sponsor her education and equipment over a three year period.
We have had various fundraising initiatives, and one was to have a vegetable patch in the Chapel gardens and sell off the produce, to raise more funds for Yankho – hence the name “Yanko fund garden”.
Take a look at the first fruits – ok veg – picked from our “Yankho fund” garden. There will be more!
