What shall I wear?

I have recently read an article entitled, “What should Ministers wear?” There were four different personal answers from four different people. It got me thinking about what I wear when attending church. I was raised to believe that it was respectful to wear “Sunday Best” when attending services.

I find that I still do this and generally wear “better dresses” and at times get comments like, “You’re looking lovely today, or, that’s a nice dress.” The skirt I wore a couple of weeks ago was praised and I was able to say that it was 16 years old. Sometimes I wonder if I look terrible when not wearing my good clothes.

I think the most important thing is what we wear in our hearts. Do we show God’s love to all? Do we make everyone feel valued? Do people look deeper and see the worried and stressed person who is struggling to cope or do they just see the outer clothing?

Heavenly Father, we know that you see into our hearts and know what is in our minds. Thank You for always being there to help and encourage us. Thank You for reminding us that, “Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes.” (Luke 12 v 23).
