We can all do something

I’ve been finding it a bit of a struggle getting back into a routine after Christmas and remembering dates and times of meetings etc. It can be a bit overpowering thinking about all the things that need to be done. I was looking for something in one of my box files and found this piece which I had used at a church meeting in N.Ireland in 2015 and it made me remember that I don’t have to do everything on my own.

Clergyman Edward Everett Hale said, “I am only one; but still I am one. I can’t do everything; but still I can do something: and because I can’t do everything, I will not refuse to do something I can.”

If you change the “I’s” to “you’s” it will now say, “You are only one; but still you are one. You can’t do everything; but still you can do something: and because you can’t do everything, you will not refuse to do something you can.”

1 Peter 4 v 10 says, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” May we all use our God-given skills, no matter how small we think they are, to spread God’s love to others.
