Walnut Tree

A sad thing happened this week and as I look out into my garden, I feel bereft.

Our walnut tree which has been there since we moved here 28 years ago (and a lot longer) had to be removed. It had developed a sickness which meant if left it could have been unstable.

As I watched them cutting off the branches, I was full of memories of the children climbing, swinging and needing the occasional ambulance!

However, I was also remined of what Jesus said about vines and branches which we read in John 15. Amazingly if we are connected to Jesus, the true vine, we will bear much fruit. We cannot bear fruit by ourselves but in Him the possibilities are endless.

Let’s pray that in our various roles, and in our lives in general, that we continue to be those branches that bear much fruit.

Stay close to Jesus!
