Last week I wrote about my friends from N.I. who visited me in Felixstowe. We had another mini adventure while they were here. I asked if anyone fancied going on the Big Wheel. I’m not a great lover of heights and had only been on it once before. It was in the evening and as it was dark you didn’t have the same perspective as to how high it was. Audrey didn’t really mind one way or another but Violet announced, with a huge smile, “We’re on our holidays, let’s do it.”
We duly climbed into our pod and started moving. Suddenly Violet said, “I don’t like this. I really don’t like this. Are we nearly at the top?” I was convinced that we were going to have to call for the wheel to be stopped when we got to the bottom so that she could get off. In trying to be upbeat about it and to distract Violet from her ordeal, Audrey and I forgot about how we felt. On our second circle Violet recovered and managed to take some photos and to enjoy the view.
Have you ever been in a situation where you are outside your comfort zone but in helping someone else you learn that you can in fact cope and enjoy the situation.
Thank You Lord, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Philippians 4 v 13.
