I have some pansies in my garden and they are one of my favourite flowers. I remember growing them as a child and I suppose I’ve never really stopped. I particularly love purple ones. When I look at the centres of them, I immediately think of angels with their wings outspread and if there’s a group of pansies then they’re a host of angels.
Hebrews 13 v 2 says “Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realising it!” So much of our church life involves entertaining others, whether in worship, catering or just having a chat. It’s so important to be welcoming to those we don’t know as well as to those we do.
At times we refer to some humans as angels because of the good they have done for others and for the support they have given.
Dear Lord, help me to always be aware that as I look at my flower angels that there are other angels in this world. Amen
