The series of Soncino commentaries in 14 volumes covering the whole of the Tenach has stood the test of time (with many reprints) in offering knowledgeable, helpful and wise comments on the text of the Old Testament.
This volume on the text of the 12 Minor Prophets (Hosea, Joel, Amos, Nahum, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Haggai, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Zechariah and Malachi) is well worth using as a commentary, perhaps for daily Bible study, and certainly as a resource for any preacher looking for background and context to this important and sometimes neglected part of the Bible.
To the evident and extensive Scriptural, geographical and historical knowledge of the commentators (two Rabbis and one layman), must be added their spiritual and pastoral insight.
While allowing for their clear focus on Israel as a nation and religion, the writers are sufficiently broadminded to avail themselves, quite liberally, of Christian commentaries on the Minor Prophets as well as traditional and more recent Jewish sources.
A rich and valuable source which can be profitably used in Bible study for building up one’s faith.
