The Destiny of Britain Hatikvah Film Trust. 2 discs £10
Disc 1 documentary presented by Kevin Crombie 107 minutes
Disc 2 extended interviews with 9 participants 196 minutes
The main objective of Hatikvah Films is to foster an understanding in the church of the Hebraic roots of the Christian faith as well as the place of the nation of Israel and the Jewish people, from both a Biblical and historical perspective, in the purposes of God for the world.
These dvds explore in depth and detail the key part played over centuries by Christian leaders in Britain as well as by British governments in their relationship to the historic nation of Israel.
It’s the destiny of Israel rather than the destiny of Britain which is the preoccupation here.
Drawing a neat parallel with the Babylonian exile which took place in the reign of Jehoiakin (597BC) which was subsequently relieved by King Cyrus (Ezra 6), Kevin Crombie calls to mind the diaspora following the fall of Jerusalem in 70 AD.
The more recent return of the Jews to their traditional homeland, especially after the Second World War, is seen as a partial fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, the creation of the state of Israel in 1948 being a major turning point.
The historical and geographical range of this study is as wide as it is impressive with many key figures featuring such as Oliver Cromwell, William Wilberforce, Lord Palmerston, Lord Shaftesbury and many others.
As a help in understanding the role of God’s chosen people, the Jews, in achieving God’s purposes for the world, this study is as good as you will find, and that despite Replacement Theology.
