From the 14th-16th December we held a “12 Days of Christmas Festival” in Trinity but it had a bit of a twist. The wording was changed to the following:
On the twelfth day of Christmas my Saviour gave to me
Twelve gifts for sharing
Eleven stars guiding
Ten coins to offer
Nine friends caring
Eight prayers answered
Seven ways to worship
Six trumpets blowing
Five angels shining
Four shepherds waiting
Three wise men riding
Two eyes to see with
One heart filled with love.
!2 different people made a flower arrangement with their own interpretation of their chosen day. It was amazing to see how each arrangement was so very different. Fresh flowers, garden foliage, dried flowers and silk ones plus props were used.
When everything was finished the church looked beautiful.
We welcomed old friends, new friends and strangers into our church during the three days and it was lovely to see some children as well.
Some people called in just to see the displays and many others enjoyed the refreshments as well as viewing the flowers. Some of their words were, “What a buzz about the church, beautiful, stunning, so spiritual, amazing, a lot of hard work,” and needless to say we were very pleased. We also had time each day to promote the “24/7 Mission in Peru.” People were generally very interested to hear about the Mission and to study the display about it.
The Rev. Jo. Jacobs also based her service around the 12 Days on the Sunday. She explained how the normal words to the song are based on the Bible. Many of us did not know that.
All in all, it was a wonderful few days and made me appreciate the importance of having our church doors open and welcoming.
May I wish all of you a Very Happy Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
