Reading another short piece from my Eddie Askew’s book has started me on another path with my squirrels. You will probably by now wonder if I spend many hours watching them, I don’t, but glance out of the kitchen window regularly and if they are there watch what they are doing – I find them fascinating.
Eddie was writing about a squirrel in his garden and saying how it was agitated and running about on the flat roof. Our three squirrels do the same and if I have frightened them somehow, they leap onto the branches of the oak tree and run away. The baby squirrel can just about make the big jump and the branch nearly breaks with the weight of mum and dad! But this does not deter them.
It takes a lot of courage to jump into the unknown or even onto a small branch. We do not know how it will all develop, or even if it will develop. However, we know we can take that leap of faith because God is always around us and with us to help and support.
Jesus said: Lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age. (Matthew 28:20)
