A lady who experienced a total solar eclipse described the incredible sensation of being engulfed by the rushing shadow of darkness, then being awed by the rapidly approaching dawn. Some observers saw it as merely a coincidence that the moon was in the exact position to shut out the sun’s light from reaching the earth at that particular time and place. This lady saw it as evidence of God’s design, order and precise control in the universe that He created.
Psalm 148 calls upon all creation to shout God’s glory: “Praise Him, sun and moon; praise Him, all you stars of light! Praise the Lord…..kings of the earth and all peoples” (Ps. 148 vv. 3,7,11).
It must have been an amazing experience when the eclipse happened but behind this darkness people knew that the sun was still there and that it would shortly bring light to the world again. There are many times when darkness can envelop us and we may feel lonely, sad and fearful but we are not alone. God is with us and His timing is exact and because He is in control we have nothing to fear.
Let’s pray for patience for all those waiting on hospital appointments, comfort for all who are in distress and strength for all coping with difficult situations in their lives.
Psalm 148 V13
Praise the name of the Lord, for His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.
