A Rainbow Promise – Worship Service

Rev. Derek Grimshaw is the preacher for this online worship service on the first Sunday in Lent. In this tough time, as we enter this Lenten Season of praying and self-reflection, we will lift our spirits by focusing on the many promises that God has made to us. Today we begin with God’s covenant promise to Noah. Scripture: Genesis 9:8-17 and Mark 1:9-15. Hymns are from Singing the Faith number 395, 237 and 636. Video and audio available.

Rainbows remind us of God’s eternal promise of life for the whole of creation. Lent is a time to set aside what is easy; it is a time to acknowledge the breadth of God’s love for all creation, to receive this amazing promise, and to act accordingly. What threatens to drown you? Remember that rainbows come after the rain.

The idea for this Lent series that we are calling God’s Promises came from a book called Season of Promise by Mary Scifres and B. J. Beu.
