Roots

Last Saturday I wrote about good friends and that I would be meeting up with them at a wedding. My husband and I had a wonderful time and it were as if it was only a few days since we had seen each other instead of years. It was lovely to see the new friendships formed with two families joining together and also to hear from the next generation who had formed long lasting friendships from their schooldays.

During the ceremony one of the bridesmaids read a passage from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin about roots that grow towards each other underground and become entwined. These words made me think about how our lives with Jesus in them become entwined together.

What a friend we have in Jesus

All our sins and griefs to bear

What a privilege to carry

Everything to God in prayer.

Thank you, Lord, for being our friend and surrounding us with your love and strength. I pray that others will feel that you are their good friend too.
