Rev Steve Oliver

As I write this letter I am very conscious of the fact that this is the beginning of
a new journey for us all. You I am sure are wondering who this Minister is and
what will the future bring. I too are wondering what is to come and what the
future will be like and I cannot deny there is a feeling of trepidation as I prepare
to meet new people; but there is also the excitement of being part of a new
Circuit, and the possibilities there are to come within the Churches themselves.

I began my Ministry in West Wales as a probationer; I then moved to the
Thetford Diss and Mildenhall as Superintendent. From there I moved to the
West Norfolk Circuit as section Minister. I retired to Suffolk in 2020 where I
was diagnosed with leukaemia. I have now been in remission for 3 years and am
really looking forward to coming out of retirement part time and joining a
progressive Circuit.

I am married to Jill, Local Preacher in training. We have 4 children and 7
grandchildren, as well as a cat, and two dogs that I enjoy walking, and I collect
walking sticks (odd pastime I know). I enjoy Heavy metal music and antique
auctions and programmes. The antiques interest was taken one step further by
appearing on Bargain Hunt with my colleague from Diss. A great experience
but unfortunately profits from our items were not very forthcoming.

Soon I will begin a new chapter in my life; it is as I said at the start of this letter
the beginning of a journey, and who knows where it will take us all. So let us in
our prayers ask for guidance and reassurance in the decisions we will make and
that our actions will always reflect love for each other and of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
