The other day when it was raining, I decided to “sort out” one of my keep-sake boxes.
One of the items which I found was a book written by Vera Smith, entitled, Daily Gems of Truth. Vera was a missionary who was from Northern Ireland and one of my sons bought this for me. I think a deciding factor in this purchase was that her name, Vera, was the same as his Grandma’s.
I opened it and it happened to be in a poem called “A Prayer for Tranquillity.” I believe that I was being given a message as at Well in The Week the theme there was having a rest.
The poem was emphasising the need to slow down, relax and to take time to be renewed. This can be something which, in this busy world, is very hard to do but we need to rest in order to be able to carry on doing God’s work.
Thank You Lord, that we are told in Psalm 46 v 10 to “Be still and know that I am God.”
You are in control and when we slow down, we can be refreshed and have a renewed sense of purpose.
