Re rooted?

I recently watched a programme about “The Great Storm of 1987”. Various people were talking about their memories of the night the storm came.

Kew Gardens were very badly affected with the loss of many trees but the one that stuck out for me was a large veteran oak which had simply been lifted out of the ground. The root plate was intact so it was possible for it to be lifted upright and replanted three years later.

Prior to the storm this tree was suffering badly due to root compaction but after being replanted it’s condition improved and now is a very healthy tree. The soil which was compacted was relieved and opened up to fresh air and moisture and gave new life to the Turners Oak.

Do you ever feel that it would take a storm to blow you over in order for new life to be implanted into your body? Do you need to relieve the compaction and tightness in your life? A time to be rerooted and opened up to freshness in your faith.

Prayer: Thank You Father that even in stormy times you know the plans you have for us. Plans to help us improve our faith and enrich our lives.
