Prayer Lesson

A TFTD, referring to active prayer, reminded me of the time I visited a church for possibly the first time.  As I entered the church, each person was handed a blank piece of paper and a hymn book with the comment “I have no idea what this is for but the minister has asked us to hand them out”

During the service, the minister invited us to write on the paper the name of a person we were concerned about. He then showed us how to fold the paper into an aeroplane shape and then asked all of us to throw them up in the air.  The next step was to pick up one of them near us, unfold the paper and then, for a few minutes, pray for the person named on the paper.

In my case, I saw the name of a lady, whom I didn’t know, and had no idea why someone was asking prayer for her. What I did learn from that experience was that I couldn’t tell God anything about this lady and nor could I give God any “advice” as to what He should do for her, Sadly, in one respect, as a visitor I was unable to know the outcome of my prayer for the lady.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please teach us how to pray, to commit people and situations to you and trust you for the outcomes. AMEN
