“Peace”

Thought for the day – Thursday 11th June 2020

As we watch our tv screens,read newspapers, listen to radios follow our social media feeds the world can feel anything but peaceful. This can cause us deep unease at times – even as Christians. However when all around us feels like absolute chaos we can depend on our saviour to see us through.

Psalm 85 has these verses:-

I will listen to what God the Lord says;
he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
 but let them not turn to folly.

Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land

Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.

We will do well to listen to God, to listen for His voice amidst the chaos. His salvation is near us because on the cross of Calvary love,faithfulness,righteousness and peace all met together as Jesus died for us. And that was not the end of the story- because of His resurrection and ascension we will experience the fulfilment of all He has in store for us. We can know a measure of that peace now as we open ourselves to Christ.

With my prayers,

John.
