More from my old files

As I continue to search through files in my office or on my laptop I find things that are treasures to me.  This is one that means a lot to me, mainly because of the effect it had on David.

Back in 2005 my husband and I were introduced to a course called Essence written by Rev Rob Frost.  It was a Lay Workers Training Day to which David was invited and our outstanding impression was that we had been more than blessed by the experience and from the love and encouragement shown to us by the folk there.  This is a shortened version of one item which was of especial note –

A letter from Jesus.

 My dear friend,

Yesterday I saw you walking and talking and laughing with your friends; I hope that soon you’d want me to walk along with you too. So, I painted you a sunset to close your day and whispered a cool breeze to refresh you, because I love you.

As I watched you fall asleep, I spilled moonlight down your face – trickling down your cheeks as so many tears have.  Did you think of me?

The next day I exploded a brilliant sunrise into a glorious morning for you.  Did you see it?

I love you.

The wind whispers my love through the treetops and spills it into the vibrant colours of the flowers.

My love for you is deeper than any ocean and greater that any need in your heart.

My father sends His love to you, I want you to meet Him; He cares so much for you for that is how he is.

Call me soon… I am always here,

Your loving friend, Jesus.

After hearing this and experiencing the day David wrote something which is very special to me because he hadn’t been a Christian for too many years and had never written anything like this before.

‘This is only a convenient place to rest;

it leads only to a place which is blessed;

a place where friend will meet

and where I shall rest at Your feet;

the time may well be long or short

but I have no worry or fear

because time will have no import

it is far better to imagine

being at Your feet.’
