We all want to make life work for us not against us. The greatest question we all ask ourselves is ‘who can show me how to live well and to make life work well?’
Every time when we meet for fellowship with our neighbours in Woodbridge we play games. We all prefer to play new games, but I have discovered that in all the games we have played what makes one win the game first is a disciplined attitude.
We can make life work again, just try discipline. When it comes to work of living, Proverbs tells us that the most important, indispensable tool available and reliable of all human beings is discipline. Without discipline we cannot live productive, satisfying lives. Proverbs 13:18 says, ‘He who ignores discipline comes to poverty and shame ‘The systems of this world make other people rich and others poor.
The message of Jesus on the mountain in the book of Matthew and on the plain in the book of Luke says that blessed are the poor for theirs is the Kingdom of God. Yes, but if the cause of that poverty is out of lack of discipline, then self-examination and repentance is needed. If we fail to take discipline seriously, we do so at our peril.
The road less travelled defines delayed gratification. With discipline we can define our destination. It is true that every accomplished preacher, pastor, doctor, athlete, in short, every accomplished worker you have known in any field of life, has tapped into the power of discipline for the simple reason, that no miracle would take you where you would want to go without discipline.
Tell your family, friends and other people how you made your life work with discipline. Have the courage to tell why your life didn’t work without discipline. That would be excellent, fore warned is fore armed. With discipline you will accomplish all your dreams.
