As I drive along the A12 with my wife, Tariro, we often find ourselves saddened by the sight of dead animals along the roadside. I was sharing with Tariro that these unfortunate moments remind us of the fragility of life and the cycles of creation. The only hour or day we are sure of our survival would be now, after an hour or a day, one would not know what the future brings. Whatever you want to do, do it now. No one knows what the future holds.
These experiences stir a deep sense of reflection within us all, prompting a broader contemplation of our journeys through life.
In the month of May, a time symbolising rebirth and renewal, I am reminded that just as nature experience cycles of death and rebirth, so do we as followers of Christ, resurrection of Jesus Christ brings hope not only for eternal life but also for new beginnings in our everyday lives.
Each of those animals, despite their fate which is painful, served a purpose in God’s creation. They lived their lives well and interacted with their environment well. Their absence reminds us to cherish every moment and be grateful for the life we have and the people who love and value us so much.
Never carry a bag of regrets and disappointments, otherwise you will die before you die. Be positive and enjoy your life as though you will not see tomorrow. Have time for yourself, plan your holidays and go to the beach or to the cinema for a film. Have confidence in yourself as you welcome and celebrate each day you are given by God.
In this season let’s commit us to nurturing the life around us, whether it’s through caring for others, taking time to appreciate the beauty of creation, or living out our faith with kindness and compassion. Would you like to suggest the best way to fulfil God’s plan and purpose with our lives?
May we create time in our busy schedule to reflect on the beauty of life, renewal, and our personal physical and spiritual journeys of faith. Death may come but resurrection is a reality. Read your Bible every day, all will be clear to you. Would you like to suggest and share with others your discoveries about self-caring?
