Tomorrow is Remembrance day.
The picture is of our Poppy display at Elmsett, put up to help people remember those in our Armed Forces who have sacrificed so much in the past for us today.
If you look at the display you will easily recognise the flowers as poppies, but none are identical. Some are almost fiery red with the sun streaming through the trees behind them, others are almost purple. Some are knitted, others are crocheted. Some are very large, others are very small.
Yet each one plays an important part in our display.
Each Serviceman or Servicewoman who died, was unique. They were all someone’s son or daughter, husband or wife, brother or sister, mother or father. They shall not be forgotten. Their sacrifice was unique.
Yet we hope that the red blood that was shed, will not have been shed in vain, just as Jesus gave his life for our liberty.
Why the poppy?
In Flanders fields, amongst the death and devastation, the red poppy could be seen triumphing over all the loss.
At this time of uncertainty and despair, let us remember the red poppy standing sturdy and strong.
Let us remember all those who in conflicts past have given up so much for us, and pray for all our Servicemen and Servicewomen who commit themselves to our protection.
