Known by name

On Tuesday of this week our Open the Book team visited Colneis and Fairfield Schools to lead their Assembly. We generally always need to get a few of the children to play some of the characters in the story.

This week we needed 10 to play Joseph’s brothers so we had quite a large cast. In Fairfield I immediately recognised one of the girls and said to her, “You’ve helped us one other time,” to which she replied, “Yes, and do you remember my name?” I had to confess that my memory was dreadful and that I didn’t remember her name. I’m quite good at remembering faces but not names.

On one other occasion a couple of the children mentioned to another team member that they played a game with each other in that they tried to remember our names. They remembered mine because I speak with a totally different accent.

One person who knows and remembers all our names is our Lord and we don’t have to be different for this to happen.

Heavenly Father, thank You for loving each of us regardless of how we look or speak and for never forgetting us even though there are times when we may forget You.
