Dear Friends in Christ,
A friendly reminder that tonight (Saturday) the clocks spring forward.
We will be worshipping at home tomorrow! I encourage you to keep your normal Sunday rhythm to your lives and to join us in worship. I recorded the service today. So, tomorrow morning, go onto our circuit website and then choose the service that I recorded called Waiting and Hoping Click on the link. You will then see the video, so just click the PLAY button, and sit back and watch and participate. If you prefer, there is an option to just listen to the audio, or download the sermon text.
It is with sadness that I write to tell the folks at Chantry Methodist, that David Curtis has passed away. His funeral will be on Monday 6th April for a few family members and close friends only. There will probably be a Memorial Service at a later date.
All our Methodist Churches are now completely closed; all of our activities and other groups that use our buildings have ceased. We are allowed a once-a-week walk-through, but otherwise I would ask that you do not enter the building. The exception is that Happy Tots at Landseer Road is going to be providing childcare for essential workers on two days a week after Easter; they will be following all the government rules and regulations.
I will leave you today with this poem called “I Worried” by Mary Oliver:
I worried a lot. Will the garden grow, will the rivers
flow in the right direction, will the earth turn
as it was taught, and if not how shall
I correct it?
Was I right, was I wrong, will I be forgiven,
can I do better?
Will I ever be able to sing, even the sparrows
can do it and I am, well,
hopeless.
Is my eyesight fading or am I just imagining it,
am I going to get rheumatism,
lockjaw, dementia?
Finally I saw that worrying had come to nothing.
And gave it up. And took my old body
and went out into the morning,
and sang.
I am keeping you in my prayers. May God’s peace be with you all,
In Christ
