Joan’s Jottings for 17th April

Dear Siblings in Christ,

I missed telling you about the Methodist Sing-A-Long on Easter Day. The Methodist Church, All We Can and the National Methodist Choir GB joined together to celebrate the joy of Christ risen and to launch the Emergency Coronavirus Appeal to save lives globally.  You can still watch the service here. Please give generously to the appeal (which I did mention in our Easter Service and in a previous Jottings).

While on the topic of money and generosity, I would like to remind you that our local churches are still incurring expenses at this time. Rather than saving your weekly offering envelopes until the church reopens, it would be helpful if you could send your offering on a monthly basis by writing a cheque, payable to the church, and mailing it to the home address of your church treasurer. Ask me if you need their name or address. Alternatively, you might consider at this time switching to give electronically; your church treasurer can advise you about that too. Thank you!

Sunday’s service will be available online on Sunday morning at the usual link. Scroll down until you find the one labelled A Door to Discovery. The scripture is from John 20:19-31 as Jesus appears to the disciples in a locked room, which Thomas misses; and then again, a week later when Thomas is present.

Here’s your dose of humour.

I am keeping you in my prayers. May God’s peace be with you all,
In Christ
