Genesis 2:4-7
“When the Lord God made the earth and the heavens – and no shrub of the field had yet appeared on the earth and no plant of the field had yet sprung up, for the Lord God had not sent rain on the earth and there was no man to work the ground, but streams came up from the earth and watered the whole surface of the ground – the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
Genesis 1:26-31
V26 “Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
Sadly, many people don’t have a positive body image, or they’re not sure how to view their physical bodies: is God only interested in our spirits and souls? God wants us to have a positive body image! The first reason why we can know that is that God created our bodies. He didn’t just make us as spiritual beings to relate to Him, but we also need physical bodies to relate to the physical world He placed us in.
We are more than another species of animal. God made human beings, male and female, in His own image. God is Trinity, One God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. In God there is relationship between the three persons and He wanted to make man and woman in His image, to relate spiritually to Him and to one another.
So let’s look in the mirror and thank God for the body He’s given us!
