Good friends

I have decided to start my Spring cleaning. I was looking through a pile of old CD’s and I found one by Rita MacNeil which was released in 1990. I remember buying it because I really liked her song “Working Man” but the words of some of the other songs are really thoughtful. One in particular struck a chord with me. It’s called “Good friends” and as I’ve written recently about good friends, I thought I would carry on with more.

The song starts,

“Don’t forget when the day is done

Who’s around when the morning comes

Who’s always there to cheer you up

When you’re down and out of luck.

Good friends light a candle

Whenever they’re around

And old friends keep it burning

They never let you down

Oh down.”

Good friends are so important in our lives. One of my friends, back in Northern Ireland, is going through an extremely serious health issue at the minute. I just wish I could be there to help but I will be holding her dear in prayer.

Lord, when we can’t be with someone whom we care for, please hold them in your loving arms and bring healing and strength to them and their family.
