The book and dvd both trace the storyline of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and they can each be used quite independently with no difficulty.
The materials are intended for Bible study groups but can be equally helpful and instructive to the individual who wishes to get to grips with the overarching message of the Word of God from beginning to end. Both book and dvd do this superbly well.
The dvd was used recently in a small Bible study group and was effective in achieving its aim and was much appreciated.
There are discussion questions at the end of each of the 8 chapters in the book and there are links to free online support material such as Leader’s Notes, Talk Outlines and Bible references.
Rev Vaughan Roberts , Rector of an Oxford church, introduces the Big Picture with the theme of the Kingdom of God and follows that through all 8 chapters – the pattern of the Kingdom,
the perished Kingdom, the promised Kingdom, the partial Kingdom, the prophesied Kingdom, the present Kingdom,the proclaimed Kingdom and the perfected Kingdom.
If you are used to the specifics of the lectionary week by week, then either the book or the dvd (or both) will allow you to escape from the detail, necessary though it is, to stand at a distance and view the whole of God’s Big Picture from Creation to Restoration.
