When winter begins to take its toll and the weather forecast online seems to imply ‘flat grey’, life can get, shall we say, a little miserable.
Here’s a poem by Raymond Carver to lift us up a little. Our faith tells us we should rejoice in all things, but it can be difficult when not only the weather, but life seems to be ‘flat grey’ too…
I like the way he implies we should love ourselves a little and be content with who and what we are.
And it’s great to remind ourselves God loves us just as we are too.
Rain by Raymond Carver
Woke up this morning with
a terrific urge to lie in bed all day
and read. Fought against it for a minute.
Then looked out the window at the rain.
And gave over. Put myself entirely
in the keep of this rainy morning.
Would I live my life over again?
Make the same unforgivable mistakes?
Yes, given half a chance. Yes.
