Thought for the day – Tuesday 4th August 2020
Whilst away visiting family (most importantly our Grandson!) I went out for a run.
The pavements in the part of Liverpool they live are not very well maintained. Despite concentrating on where my feet fell I took a rather nasty tumble and have ended up with a variety of injuries. As well as feeling sorry for myself I also try to look for what the connection might be in a spiritual sense.
So I am thinking about Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
So better than the pavement fix my eyes on Jesus! – perhaps best to do both!!
Also some of my all time favourite verses from Psalm 37:23,24
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand.
I love the fact that although God knows we will stumble and fall in a variety of ways He is there to catch us and uphold us.
