False information

On the second day of our recent trip to Northumberland we planned to go to Ross Sands. Our host suggested this was the most beautiful beach in Northumberland, often deserted as it is only accessible after a walk through fields and sand dunes.

My husband “googled” it and found this review, (which made us smile!).

“Don’t go there, it’s horrible!                                                                                                                                        No Cafes, you won’t meet new friends because it is usually a deserted beach, the kids won’t have anyone to play with, there is golden sand and it gets everywhere, miles of it. Those seals look cuddly but are vicious. The beach is 20 minutes from the lay by (grass verge) that they force you to park in. Did I tell you about the lack of cafes, no litter to break up the view. The islands of Lindisfarne and Farnes get in the way of the skyline and spoil the vista. If you were to walk north on the east side of the peninsula there are lots of noisy birds, wildfowl and waders including Brent Geese in winter. The two brick needles (that make you wonder how they got the bricks here!) are used to line up the route into Lindisfarne harbour for boats.
No definitely don’t come here!
Ps on a serious note and don’t let this stop you from visiting one of the best beaches in the world”.

That review was obviously “tongue-in-cheek” and didn’t put us off.

The religious leaders of Jesus day tried to spread vicious rumours about him, fake news. They turned the crowd, who had one day cried hosanna, against him, and their cries turned to crucify! Yet that was not enough  to stop Jesus fulfilling what God had planned for the world.

Jesus came to save us from ourselves, and to save the world from itself.

Despite the bad review, we were not put off. We were not disappointed, (although there were two other cars parked on the verge when we arrived!)

There are those in the world who try to put us off following Jesus, yet  his love for us overcomes that, and we can walk with him on the most beautiful sands of eternity.
