Even in the dry lands of East Anglia, we can celebrate God’s bountiful harvest. We joined together with friends from the local community and shared in a fantastic and fun harvest celebration. The children prepared their very own veggie family – including Annie Aubergine, Barbara Broccoli, Colin Carrot, Cathy Cucumber, Penny Parsnip, Peter Pepper, Simon Squash and of course Mr Potato head! They learnt how we are all different yet none is more important than the other.
Our theme for the Harvest Service was Creation Care and how through our own actions we can be transformative, personally, globally and of course spiritually when we observe how the seed grows and bears fruit, just as the kingdom of God is transformative.
We finished our celebration with a puppet show from the veggie family and who will forget singing/dancing to the Harvest Samba – “Strictly Come Dancing” eat your heart out!!
The congregation and friends from the community then moved outside where we were able to continue our fellowship together, to sit down and share a delicious BBQ together.
Our harvest gifts were given to the “Little Pantry” at Landseer Road Methodist Church who were delighted to receive these gifts which will help those families who are struggling.
